  • As a feature writer, Matthew has interviewed filmmakers such as Edgar Wright, Wes Ball, Jeremy Saulnier, David Prior, and the Safdie brothers.
  • Matthew has also served as a jury member for the Austin Asian American Film Festival and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival.
  • To this day, Matthew is still the only person he knows with a tattoo based on Antonio Bird's 1999 horror cannibal western Ravenous.

Matthew's career as a film journalist began in middle school, when a community newspaper in Southeast Alaska published his review of The Mothman Prophecies. Since then, Matthew has focused his writing on his love of horror films and tabletop games. His work in the Austin arts community can be found in publications like Eater Austin and the Austin Chronicle, and his list of recent publications includes Dicebreaker, Dread Central, Ebert Voices, Film School Rejects, The Playlist, and more. When not writing about horror and tabletop, Matthew works full-time as a marketing director for a financial services cooperative.

Matthew has an MA in Film Studies from Columbia University.
